Marilyn and staff were shady

Service was delightful at first encounter until I began asking questions and wanting explanations for the charges I was told versus what was actually on my storage payment paperwork. I was overcharged, not reimbursed, then lied to about the charges presented initially. I was charged for products I was told were complimentary, after being offered to me. Then I was offered a monetary bribe by Marilyn (the clerk who to encourage me to not report her unprofessional behavior that coincided with being over charged to upper management. Staff was not able to answer any questions about unknown or misleading transactions on my account and rudely responded when questioned. This was by far one of the worse customer experiences I've had. I've had over 15 years of customer service in my lifetime so I do not take this lightly. I would not recommend this location to anyone... ever. I'm very disappointed in the company, especially since it started off on a positive upbeat note before receiving my paperwork that I constantly had to ask about before seeing for myself. It was my mistake to go by what was being said and not what Marilyn was actually charging me for. I do not appreciate under handedness and this was definitively not a highlight of my visit to Memphis.

Needs improvement

Reservation does not guarantee the unit selected will be available even if you make an appointment and keep it. Though I got a larger unit for the same price I think there should be some way to guarantee the unit you reserve. Maybe there is but I just didn't see it. First I'll say that the staff were friendly and the process is simple. However I didn't like being urged to buy stuff. I also didn't like having to buy a lock. I wasn't given an option or told that I had any choice. At least they didn't force me to take their renters insurance at this location even though I already had it. When I went back two days later, a piece tell out of the (supposedly new) lock I paid $20 for. It was after hours so there was no one to help. It seemed to work okay, but that's still something I'm going to have to make a trip for. Also, the gate was standing open when I arrived and when I left. The cover seemed to be gone from the control box. I don't know if some one broke in or if it was just broken. The security door inside (to the first floor units) was not fully closed and anyone could just go in. This door needs to be adjusted so that it closes securely every time.

Public Storage has easy access to the units. It is great to have a cart there that can assist with moving a lot of objects. Everything is clean and neat.
